Celebrex (Celecoxib) is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that blocks the hormone responsible for pain and inflammation. Celebrex is a COX-2 inhibitor, which fights swelling and pain. Use Celebrex to relieve and manage pain or inflammation from conditions such as osteoarthritis, menstrual cramps, ankylosing spondylitis, or hereditary colon polyps. This product can be used to treat juvenile rheumatoid arthritis for children who are at least 2 years of age.
How Does It Work
Celebrex works to prevent prostaglandins, which in turn helps to lessen pain and inflammation. You can take Celebrex with food or milk to prevent causing an upset stomach. If you have trouble with swallowing the pill, you can open the pill and mix the medicine into a spoonful of applesauce. Swallow the mix immediately, and throw away the outer capsule. Be sure to go for regular visits with your doctor to monitor your condition, and have regular blood tests done if you are using Celebrex to treat a chronic, long-term condition.

Side effects you may experience while using Celebrex include sneezing, sore throat, cough, fever, skin rash or swelling in the face, fingers, or feet. More serious side effects are unlikely, but contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision, chest pain, heartburn, bloody or black stool, diarrhea, confusion, high blood pressure, ulcers or any abnormal bleeding or bruising. Do not take Celebrex prior to or following heart surgeries. This medication can increase your chances of serious heart conditions, especially if you have been using NSAIDs for long-term treatment. People also using aspirin, or are over 65 years old, are at a higher risk of ulcers and stomach bleeding.
