Latisse is a product for people who eyelash growth is very slow or sparse. This medication treats Hyotrichosis, which means the eyelashes have abnormal growth. Latisse provides the benefits of our natural body chemical, prostagelin. It helps our eyelashes thicken, lengthen and darken for a more noticeable appearance. Latisse can be used to treat Glaucoma as well.
Always refer to the Patient Information pamphlet if available. Latisse is typically recommended to be applied once a day, usually at night. Before applying this product, take out contact lenses. Wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in after using Latisse. Remove any makeup, and thoroughly clean and dry your face. Carefully apply Latisse onto your upper eyelid where your eyelashes meet the skin. You can blot any excess medicine that drip on your eyelashes with a clean tissue. Take care not to get this medication into your eye. If this happens, rinse your eye with water. Do not use this product on your lower eyelids. You should discard the disposable applicator after use on each eye.
Keep Latisse at room temperature, and avoid storing near heat or moisture. Make sure the bottle is closed tightly.
It can be 2 months before you see noticeable improvements to your lashes. For best results, continue using Latisse consistently, as the effects of this product are not permanent. Applying more product will not increase results, so do not use more of this product that suggested.
Do not use Latisse if you are allergic to bimatoprost, or to drugs like travoprost or latanoprost. Let your doctor know if you have any history of glaucoma, eye infections, or any previous eye surgery or injuries.
If you have any eye pain, changed in vision, or serious eye irritation while using Latisse, stop using the product and see your doctor.
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or may become pregnant while using Latisse. Tell your doctor as well if you are breast-feeding.
Common side effects of Latisse may include redness in the eye or on the eyelids, puffy eyelids, itching, irritation, and dry or watery eyes. These symptoms should go away as your eyes adjust to the medication. If they continue, let your doctor know.
More serious side effects are not common, but stop using Latisse and contact your doctor if you notice severe redness, extreme itchiness, burning, discharge, pain, vision trouble, heightened sensitivity to light or heavy swelling in or around your eye.
